Meet Anita our creative swimmer

Meet Anita, our proud expat Kiwi and innovative swimmer known on social media instagram as @neatsnz who merges her love for art with a passion for wellness and nature. Anita doesn't just swim; she creates our digital art and website with her unique creativity. She loves bright colour with a distinct ability to pair colour which sets her apart from the rest of us when out wandering the Wicklow mountains while also meaning she is easy to find. Armed with a pose out of ‘ Zoolander’ she is ready for her action shot! New Zealand born, Anita never thought she would ever swim in the freezing Irish waters but now she is just as hardy as her fellow Irish swimmers going out no matter what the weather brings. Her swims are not just about exercise; they're about self-expression and joy in the benefits of wild swimming for health. Though Anita will always be on the lookout for a great oat milk cappuccino, she never fails to impress us with her latest snack ideas, showcasing her vibrant porridge masterpieces or opting for the crunch of rice crackers, often a health conscious snacker. When she's not making waves with her strokes, Anita can be found blending her artistic flair with a dedication to holistic wellness.

We asked Anita her favourite beaches in Ireland, here are her top spots.

  • Assaranca Waterfall (Eas a’ Ranca), Co. Donegal. As you drive along a country road suddenly you come around the corner to an impressive sight, a beautiful waterfall tumbling down from the cliffs above with rock pools below with the sound of the thundering water in the air. A cold dip but well worth it!

  • The Little Beach, Kilmore Quay. Love this beach when combined with the wood-fired sauna at https://www.salteesauna.ie alternating between 15 minutes in the sauna and then a dash down the sand into the refreshing sea waves in The Little Beach. You feel so exhilarated after and it is a great day trip combined with lunch in one of the nearby cafes.

  • Keem Bay, Achill, Co. Mayo. This has to be one of the most beautiful beaches, small but mighty. Situated in a picturesque bay surrounded by the mountains on both sides, with beautiful clear blue waters, while being watched by the local hardy sheep grazing nearby, this is definitely a spot not to miss!
